Minimum And Maximum Memory Requirements

Posted on 22. Apr, 2009 by admin.

Each and every program in a computer is temporarily saved in a device called Memory. Memory handles several programs simultaneously in a laptop computer. The performance of Laptops containing a slower processor can be improved by the laptop memory. Almost similar to a CPU, cache memory is also present in some laptops to process information quicker. The need of memory size depends upon the intended use of laptop. The program that is to be run on the laptop has to be decided before upgrading or buying a new laptop. There are some conditions for using different operating systems and normally it is preferred to have more laptop computer memory than the minimum requirement. In order to play a game or make DVDs and videos the laptop should have 512MB of memory.

If you are using Microsoft Vista then the suggested memory will be 1 GB. Upgrading is restricted in small computers. In order to have extra memory for a laptop computer, it is better to identify the maximum memory capacity that can be handled by the laptop. This information is always available in the product manuals. However, in order to have full usage of a laptop, the battery should be fully charged. Laptop batteries must be charged only when the charging go below 80%.

The utilisation of these batteries can be optimized by handling them with care. When charging the battery, it is better to switch off the laptop. If kept on, the batteries won’t get the required power.

Becoming a pro in technics

When it comes to any kind of tech stuff I’m always stuck as I do not even know how to switch on our dvd-recorder. You see, I do no need it as my son is a tech-genious: all the equipment in our house is bought on his advice. Plazma TV, DVB receiver and media center - all these have been chosen after a long period of his consulting with the professionals and I would say this is worth money spent on them and time dedicated to find the best TV and an amplifier and the most oustanding and brandable digital signage solutions.

Actually, I’ve always thought that there is no problem to connect all tech stuff and to make it work. But as usual this is just a narrow-minded thought. In order to get really fabulous picture you need to buy gold-plated component to vga and also dvi to component connection. The same may be attributed to the audio connectors if you want to get a crystal clear sound from your acoustics and headphones as well.

Actually, I joked about my inability to switch on a dvd-recorder - sure, I can do it! Nowadays I can’t say that I’m a pro in technics but I aleady know all the brands, how to connect and tune the devices and their characteristics.

Buying an LCD TV

Okay so you have made up your mind to buy an LCD television. But you have not yet decided which one to get. Well before you head for the store pick up a CD or a DVD that has a movie with some dimly lit dark scenes in it. Once you get to the store check out the sets as the salesman gives you his sales pitch. Then pull out your CD or DVD and ask him to play it. Check the picture quality, see if the black shows as a true black or not.

Also check out the other colours. Like do the flash tones appear correct. Now check what all input sources the LVD television supports. Make sure the LCD television has multiple input sources. Doing this means you connect it to multiple input sources. Also check the picture quality from a satellite or cable source. Most LCD TVs will reproduce well from high quality pristine sources, like CD and HD but may not reproduce well from mediocre sources. Also make sure that there is a warranty on the back light. Or at least it can be easily replaced. Don’t go for a very large sized LCD television. It may look tempting in the store, but may be too big for your place. LCD televisions are getting very popular and quality is improving.

Connectivity Options For Your Notebook

So, you’ve just bought your new notebook, or even better, received it as a Christmas present and want to get it online. What are your options? If you already have a PC at home, you can simply plug your current network cable into your new notebook or plug the modem in directly. You also have the option of purchasing a wireless router which will allow you to use your Internet connection around the home, but not much else. My personal favourite however is mobile broadband. With 99% of UK coverage, mobile broadband is quickly taking over. By taking out mobile broadband, you can use your new laptop anywhere you like and have Internet access at the same time. No more finding free wi-fi hotspots or plugging in the Cat 5 cable for you! Most mobile phone operators offer mobile broadband along with their mobile phone contracts, so finding a provider / deal should be relatively easy. This time of year there are always lots of broadband and mobile phone deals to be add, especially in January so have a look around and make sure you get an all inclusive bandwidth package as bandwidth can be particularly expensive on mobile if you’re not careful!

Mac or PC? The age old debate!

Posted on 21. Nov, 2008 by admin.

I have been a PC user for around the past 15 years, give or take. I literally use my computer for e-mail, spreadsheets a little bit of word processing and web development. Nothing too heavy, nothing out of the ordinary but my PC just can’t seem to handle it, more to the point, Windows Vista can’t. My laptop has the same problem and I, like millions of others, am growing increasingly tired of constant application crashes, poor usability and general speed issues. So, with that said, I am about to make the jump over to Apple. With my laptop anyway. There are so many laptop computers out there these days, all with a wide range of specs from a wide range of manufacturers, but one problem, they all run Vista. I think whatever system I buy, regardless of spec, I am going to run into issues. I have heard nothing put praise for Apple systems so I am going to make the switch. Let’s hope they really do make the best laptops! I have still not decided which system to go for, I am favouring the Macbook Pro but can’t decide whether to go for the 15″ or the 17″. A 17 laptop would be ideal for me but I wouldn’t fancy dragging it to the office every day. Let’s hope regardless of which one I go for, I don’t experience the regular crashes I am prone to currently!

Conference Calling Guide

As you may or may not know, conference calling is a telephone call involving 3 or more individuals. Conference calls are often used in business to connect 3 or more company representatives together so a three way (or more) conversation can take place as opposed to a standard two way phone conversation and then the details needing to be relayed and relayed to all parties. Not all conference call systems allow all parties to participate in the call, some systems only allow a two way conversation but multiple parties can listen in on the audio. To add parties to the conversation, the individuals simply need to call in or the conference call holder can in turn call each party and add them to the chat.

Companies wishing to make a conference call often turn to specialised service providers who handle the conference call on their behalf. The company will provide a phone number and pin code for the participants to dial into and access allowing all dialed in parties to communicate.

Third party conference call (bridging) services are extremely low cost when compared to installing such facilities in your own office building and as a result, many small, medium and large business are turning towards these providers.
