Each and every program in a computer is temporarily saved in a device called Memory. Memory handles several programs simultaneously in a laptop computer. The performance of Laptops containing a slower processor can be improved by the laptop memory. Almost similar to a CPU, cache memory is also present in some laptops to process information quicker. The need of memory size depends upon the intended use of laptop. The program that is to be run on the laptop has to be decided before upgrading or buying a new laptop. There are some conditions for using different operating systems and normally it is preferred to have more laptop computer memory than the minimum requirement. In order to play a game or make DVDs and videos the laptop should have 512MB of memory.

If you are using Microsoft Vista then the suggested memory will be 1 GB. Upgrading is restricted in small computers. In order to have extra memory for a laptop computer, it is better to identify the maximum memory capacity that can be handled by the laptop. This information is always available in the product manuals. However, in order to have full usage of a laptop, the battery should be fully charged. Laptop batteries must be charged only when the charging go below 80%.

The utilisation of these batteries can be optimized by handling them with care. When charging the battery, it is better to switch off the laptop. If kept on, the batteries won’t get the required power.
