Laptop computers generally come with 12” or slightly larger active matrix displays; these displays usually have a resolution of 1024×768 pixels or more. A hard disk is an inbuilt feature of a laptop, and is generally a bit smaller in size than the desktop computer.

Lithium ion batteries are used in most of the new technology laptops. Most of the batteries generally endure for two to three hours, but there are some batteries that can last up to 5 hours as well. The lifetime of a battery is generally 1 to 4 years depending upon the charging and discharging pattern. If you want battery of your laptop to stay for longer time, make sure you charge it fully every time you plug it in for charging.

Before buying a laptop computer you need to make sure you are aware of the following:
- Always make sure you are getting the right configuration that you opted for; that is, make sure the hard disk, RAM and processor is up to the mark.
- Ask the dealer to set the resolution and graphics of your laptop so that you do not face any kind of problem while working for hours on the laptop.
- Make sure the battery is up to the mark, there are some dealers that tend to replace the original batteries with fake ones.
- Get a proper stamp and sign of the dealer on the invoice of the laptop.
- Do get warranty card signed by the dealer, a good dealer would do that without asking you. But there are some dealers that do not sign the warranty card.
- Do ask for the carry bag as all the manufacturers provide carry bags.
